Dutch Government Praises ICT for Development after Meeting with IICD
Jul 14 2011, Netherlands [NL]
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign affairs praises ICT as a catalyst for development. This statement was made in a press release that was issued after a meeting between Dutch Minister of International Cooperation Ben Knapen, IICD’s managing director Caroline Figuères and IICD’s chairman of the Board of Trustees Jozias van Aartsen.
In the (Dutch) press release, the Ministry of Foreign affairs clearly states the importance of ICT and the reason for IICD’s existence. “Usually a little push is all it takes to introduce innovative solutions that can then be offered by companies and farmers’ organisations in a sustainable way. This is how development cooperation works as a catalyst for economical development.”
Minister Knapen also “encourages IICD’s approach of partnerships with partners from the public, private and non-profit sector and national and international knowledge institutes.”
